Discovery may consist of informal investigation, voluntary exchanges of information, and verification of assets and liabilities. More complicated discovery may consist of depositions, interrogatories, and/or requests for production of documents of the other party.

Purpose of Evaluation: To assess current and/or future employability and wage earning capacity for the court. It can include the presentation of a vocational plan outlining specific details as to how the person will return to the job market (e.g., training time, cost, appropriate programs, entry/ceiling earnings upon plan completion, and job availability).

Should your case proceed to a trial or hearing you will probably be called to testify in court in regard to records and documents or as a witness to events. To give you a general idea of the requirements and procedures concerning testifying at trial, here are some practical hints and suggestions on what to do and how to do it well when you become a witness.

Both the United States Constitution and the California Constitution allow a person not to be compelled to be a witness against him/herself in a criminal matter. This is an easy thing when the person is in criminal court. It becomes a little more complicated when the person is a witness or a party in another court or another action.
